Kylie became Karl Lagerfeld's protégée, as he convinced her to crop her hair short and dye it blonde. With her new "boyish looks" (yet still very feminine), Kylie went to study with Steven Meisel.

In 2000, she struck gold (or is it the other way around?), when she joined the list of beauties like Estella Warren, Veronica Varekova and Michelle Behennah, in Sports Illustrated's Swimsuit Issue of 2000.

Kylie took her beauty to film, with appearances in 1999's Storm Catcher and The Big Tease. She also appeared in the 2000 comedy, We Married Margo, as well as the thriller, Jill Rips (a.k.a The Bone Ripper, The Leatherwoman and Tied Up) that same year.

She then moved on to more teen-oriented films, with a role as a Victoria's Secret supermodel in the romantic comedy, Boys and Girls, along with fellow models Ines Rivero and Kristy Hinze. In 2001, Kylie and Carmen Electra appeared in Get Over It, starring Kirsten Dunst.
